Start-up Funding from Provincial Government To Give Québec Startups a Boost

Mouvement des accélérateurs d’innovation du Québec (“MAIN Québec”) is re-launching a program aimed at coaching and accelerating growth of 375 startups in the province by 2023.

As recently reported by BetaKit, Quebec’s Ministry of Economy and Innovation will provide MAIN Québec with a $12.5 million dollar subsidy over three years to support MAIN Québec’s le Service d’accompagnement pour PME innovantes et technologiques (PMEit).

PMEit partners with accelerators and incubators in the province to help identify companies that would be a good fit for the coaching program and identify experts or coaches who would be the best fit for each startups vision and needs.

Unlike other coaching programs, the PMEit approach centres the enterpreneurs needs, encouraging peer-supported skills development. According to MAIN Québec, more than 40 accelerators have already expressed interest.

The PMEit program was originally launched in 2018, and partner accelerators included FounderFuel, Centech, and District 3. Support for the new class of participating startups is expected to come in the first quarter of 2021.
