Behavox, a New York-based company using artificial intelligence (AI) to help mitigate risks and identify revenue opportunities for businesses, recently announced its plan to open a 400-person office space in Montreal. Although the company established a Montreal office in 2018, Behavox hopes this expansion will allow the company to adequately and efficiently address the needs of its growing Canadian customer base.
With COVID-19 presenting economic uncertainties for the future of Montreal and Canada at large, Behavox’s announcement is welcomed by the Quebec community: “We are proud to support a company that will continue to create specialized, well-paid jobs. By relying on our talents to build cybersecurity for tomorrow, Behavox is helping to make our societies safer and consolidating a key sector in Quebec’s economic recovery,” said the President of Investissement Quebec International, Hubert Bolduc.
There is no doubt that Montreal has firmly established itself as an international artificial intelligence leader. Over the years, the global talent hub has developed cutting-edge expertise, driven by researchers such as Yoshua Bengio, the winner of the Turing Award 2018 and one of the most frequently cited computer scientists in the world.
Behavox’s $35 million lease commitment demonstrates the company’s confidence in the Montreal AI community, and will certainly help the region continue to diversify and grow its talent base. Pierre Fitzgibbon, Quebec’s Minister of Economy and Innovation, noted “the establishment of Behavox’s new office in Montreal will consolidate our artificial intelligence ecosystem and enhance our international profile.”
