Building the Data Layer for Perceptual Intelligence: Mundo AI’s US$24 Million Raise

Mundo AI (“Mundo”) is a Vancouver-based company that provides data infrastructure and analytics platforms. The company was founded in 2024 by Jason Liao, Naijide Anwaer, Garreth Lee and Kenneth Wu. In 2025, Mundo participated in Y Combinator, one of the world’s most prestigious startup accelerators to access early-stage funding and other growth opportunities. In 2025, Mundo raised US$4 million in a seed financing round. The following year, it secured an additional US$20 million through a Series A funding round. The financing round was led by GreatPoint Ventures, an early-stage venture capital firm based in San Francisco, California. Additional investors included Y Combinator, E12 Ventures and Next Frontier Capital, all of which focus on emerging AI companies.

While the AI sector has attracted significant investor interest in recent years, Mundo’s value proposition distinguishes it from many competitors. The company markets its products as “the data layer for perceptual intelligence,” which it defines as the ability of systems to learn from and understand the richness of real-world sensory experiences and use that understanding to navigate and interact with their environments. More specifically, perceptual intelligence encompasses capabilities such as speech recognition, contextual understanding and the interpretation of physical intent.

Mundo believes that AI systems focused solely on reasoning, such as solving mathematical problems or answering research questions, cannot create holistic systems capable of understanding and interacting naturally with the physical and social world. The company aims to address these limitations through its technology and plans to use its recent funding to expand its research, engineering and operations teams.
