Felix Health, a Toronto-based health start-up, recently announced its plans to expand its digital mental health services. Founded in 2019, Felix is a digital healthcare company that focuses on healthcare accessibility for Canadians. Now, along with offering prescription renewals and medication delivery services, Felix will provide a more integrated platform, which will allow users to directly access diagnostic and treatment services for mental health conditions like anxiety and depression.
Felix’s end-to-end service will include audio or video appointments with a medical professional who will provide a diagnosis and recommend treatment. Then, Felix will fill the prescription, discreetly package it, and ship it for free within 48 hours by an accredited pharmacy.
According to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, 40 percent of Canadians have experienced feelings of anxiety or depression but have not sought medical help for it. Felix’s digital mental health care expansion will allow Canadians to speak directly with healthcare practitioners through calling or a secure messaging service, which will help remove deterrents like wait times and travel.
"When initially launching our mental health services, we felt it was our duty to make treatment more accessible. Refilling pre-prescribed medication was the first step, but we wanted to be able to provide more," said Kyle Zien, CEO and Co-Founder of Felix. "Our initial mental health offering was one of our biggest launches to date, and we are proud to expand our services to provide Canadians even more access and control of their mental health needs in a way that is simple, secure and cost-effective."
