Eleven Canadian Companies Receive Funding for Quantum Technologies

Monday, April 29, 2024

Last month, the National Research Council of Canada (NRC) announced that eleven Canadian companies were selected to receive funding for the development of quantum technologies. The funding follows a joint Canada-U.K. call for proposals, and is intended to support collaborations between Canadian and British companies. The British companies are receiving support from their counterpart public body, the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI).

According to the NRC, these projects “focus on developing real-world quantum technologies for commercial use in networking, sensing and scalable solutions to quantum computing as well as developing the supply chain.”

Four of the companies receiving funding are based in Quebec, three are based in each of Ontario and B.C., and one is in Alberta. The funding per company ranges from $144,000 to $691,136. NRC support for these companies and selected projects aligns with the Government of Canada’s broader National Quantum Strategy.
